Tagline: What if a pill could make you rich and powerful?

Review: This movie doesnt exactly go deep with either the moral or thematic implications of super intelligence. Nor are the characters particularly well developed. But I was engaged from beginning to end with this taut and, best of all, original thriller. Ive never seen anything quite like it. It proceeds in a generally credible and suspenseful way from its premise, a pill that allows you to use all of your brain.Of course, the notion that were only using a small fraction of our brains is untrue, but I liked how the film uses this urban fib as a springboard for its engaging story.

There are one or two moments that strain credulity, Im thinking, particularly, of the one eyed thug who cant seem to hit the broad side of a barn with his gun, but I think every good story has a few of those.

The camera tricks and visual effects used to externalize whats going on in the main characters head are also a lot of fun. Good performances by all the actors.

If you yearn for science fiction movies and thrillers that you can actually believe from moment to moment and havent seen 10 times before, then Id recommend this one.

Jen (Katherine Heigl) is on holiday with her mother and father Mr. and Mrs. Kornfeldt (Tom Selleck and Catherine O’Hara, respectively). She’s a nervous wreck and newly single. Most of her worries go out the door when she is swept off her feet by the suave Spencer (Ashton Kutcher). Little does she realize that her new boy toy can be a CIA operative who’s leaving the work being with her. Flash forward three years and somebody wants Spencer out belonging to the image. With a $20 million dollar cost on his head, it appears that everyone they know is following Spencer and also the only individual he can trust is his reluctant wife.

So what’s this? Limitless is often a “romantic comedy” (how normally is this genre romantic and/or comedic) with hints of an action film. Don’t get it baffled with an action movie that occurs for being humorous. Foremost work would be to please the female demographic with all of the affordable shrieks and arguments stirred up by an irrational female lead. Kutcher, because the male lead, can also be right here to appeal toward ladies. Spencer doesn’t have a solid support staff or even a definable mission other than to put together girls into the seats.

The performances are par to the course and visuals are remarkably strong for this breed of movie. Hand-to-hand combat is really even more entertaining right here, than that discovered in Quantum of Solace. The downfall is that Limitless film is not funny, in any way. It does not aim to the gross-out (extremely normally), but the effort is generally underwhelming. Jen’s mother seems to serve as the primary comic relief element, this really is just speculation for the reason that her part as an alcoholic isn’t really essential to any factor with the Limitless film.

Limitless was superior the very first time I saw it… when it was referred to as Genuine Lies. The older title successfully combines all the factors of the top-tier espionage classic after which it it brings inside a likable, dynamic housewife to keep the female crowd inside film. Tom Arnold was a rock solid sidekick for Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ashton has no one. Harry Tasker carries a purpose for people to try and kill him and his household, Spencer not so a lot of. In Correct Lies, a subplot develops where by Harry has reason to spy on Helen to see if she’s cheating on him. In Limitless, the notion is simply suggested without having logic. Does it make sense for everyone in Spencer’s daily life to be gunning for him? I feel not. What a waste of resources to own persons pretend to become a former agent’s friend for a number of years.

Limitless completely shames the tradition of the espionage subgenre. Training missions possess a more elaborate scheme, and they generally go to your trouble of producing sense out in the background story. Through the end of it, you understand that every one of the twists you expected for being revealed are not only presented but also nonsensical. The considerably more you think about it, the larger the waste of time it becomes. Nevertheless, it’s simple to recognize that Limitless is significantly more rom com than spy thriller, and with that in thoughts, it’s almost a treat because the gunfire and explosions will entertain a male date superior than the dialogue identified within the standard chick flick.
